If a student needs to attend an appointment during school hours they must bring a note to their teacher, stating the time they need to leave class and the person who will be collecting them. Students must sign out at the main office when they leave, and sign in again when they return.
For some children there are access and custody issues. We only release students to the custodial parent or legal guardian, as stated on their enrolment form - from the main office. Please understand that this is to ensure the safety of all our students.
Students that arrive after the 8.45am bell must report to the Resource Room to sign in. If we have not heard from you and your child is away, or they forget to sign in after arriving late we may contact you to check on where your child is, this is done in the interests of safety.

Parents/Caregivers of absent students are asked to phone, text, email the school to let us know that your child is away, and the reason for the absence on the first day they are away. If a student is absent for more than 3 days, a medical certificate is required. All students must bring a note, explaining their absence, to their classroom teacher on return to school.
If we have not heard from you and your child is away we may contact you to check on where your child is. Again, this is done in the interests of safety.
If your child has a pattern of unexplained absence we may elect to use School Attendance Services, Hamilton, to investigate attendance and offer support in getting your child back into regular school attendance patterns.

Students who have 100% attendance for a term will be given a black koru award at the end of the term. Those who have full attendance for the year are recognised and receive an excellence White Koru award as well. Patterns of lateness to school does effect decisions regarding these awards.
