Prize Giving Assemblies

Towards the conclusion of each school year teachers nominate students who have contributed strongly in a variety of fields to receive awards.

The Service and Leadership Awards

One girl and one boy are chosen for their attitude, effort and contribution to the school. These are recognised through the Altrusa association and the Lions Club respectively. The most prestigous awards in the school are the ZONTA and Trevor Church Memorial Rotary scholarships. Six boys and six girls are chosen for their outstanding leadership, performances, and contributions to the school and community. From here only one boy and one girl are chosen to win the scholarships. These are presented in a special assembly around mid November and at the awarding organisation's meeting for that month.

Prize Giving Assemblies

We have four prize giving assemblies in the final two weeks of the school year:

  • Recognition Assembly - recognising the work and contributions of students to their class, team and the school.
  • Sports Assembly - recognising the achievements and contributions of students to the school's sporting teams.
  • Cultural Assembly - recognises students' achievements and contributions to the cultural aspects of the school. (Music, Art, Dance, culture, etc).
  • Prize Giving Assembly - recognises excellence in achievement across many aspects of the school environment.

These are excellent assemblies that showcase the achievements of the students at Maeroa during their time here. All visitors are most welcome to sit in on any, or all, of our assemblies.
