Our Library

Welcome to Maeroa Intermediate School’s Library. We have a wonderful collection of more than 6000 physical books including novels, non-fiction, picture books and the always-popular graphic novels. Students also have 24/7 online access to a great selection of eBooks to read on devices.

Our library is open for scheduled class visits every day and students are welcome to visit at sports break. During sports break the library is very well used and you will always find students exchanging their books, playing with Lego, enjoying a game of cards, and challenging their friends to a board game.

Students can browse our library catalogue, make reservations and renew books through our web-app. The web-app is accessible in the library on our search iPads or from any device connected to the internet at home or school.

Our librarian, Miss Gill, is here to support when students come into the library and is always happy to help.

Student Librarians

Our library is run with the help of many student librarians during both scheduled class visits and at break time. The job involves issuing and returning books, helping people using the library, shelving books, tidying the library and promoting the library and our books.

There are opportunities to apply to be a sports break librarian twice per year as students complete the job for two terms. When applications are open Miss Gill will put a message in the notices asking for interested students to fill in an application form. This is a fantastic way to take on a role with responsibility and earn your black service koru flash at the same time.
